Curbing Fossil Fuels
For more than a century, the burning of fossil fuels has taken a significant toll on humanity and the environment. Crude oil, natural gas, and coal make up about 80 percent of our energy needs today, and contribute to water pollution, air pollution, climate change and ocean acidification.
Clean, renewable energy – such as solar, wind, and geothermal energies – has become much more common for businesses and individuals over the last two decades.
We're Reducing Our Emissions
We have reduced our fossil fuel emissions significantly by taking the following actions:
- 17 electric charging stations across five locations, with updates completed in 2024 to replace 6 DC Fast Chargers with the latest model units
- Hybrid security and transit vehicles, and street-legal golf carts to reduce fossil fuel emissions from gas-powered vehicles
- Solar-powered parking meters and crosswalk lights that require only a small amount of sunlight to keep the batteries charged, making them fully reliable in the winter months
- 7 COGO Bike Share stations for guest use to move about the property
