Per Scholas is the July and August Change for Charity partner, who provides skills training and access to employer networks. Their mission: advance economic equity through no-cost, rigorous training for tech careers and to connect skilled talent to leading businesses.
Individuals who are applying for the program go through an admissions process that includes testing and interviews. This year, the Columbus location will welcome nine cohorts made up of 20-25 learners.
“We believe a thriving workforce starts with equitable access to education,” said Noah Mitchell, Managing Director of Per Scholas Columbus. “By creating opportunities for those who are underrepresented in the tech workforce, we are helping to build on-ramps for women and people of color to work in key technical roles.” In fact, 87% of Per Scholas graduates are people of color.
Per Scholas works directly with employers, large and small, to design rigorous, boot camp-style courses. Additionally, this tuition-free training combines business professional skills development with hands-on technical instruction for high-demand jobs. Nationally, more than 80 percent of Per Scholas’ 11,000 graduates have landed successful tech careers in more than 500 businesses. We are proud to support this important work: diversity and equity in the workplace and the creation of economic sustainability. You can also support Per Scholas, by parking at one of our Change for Charity parking meters, paying a parking ticket, or simply making a donation to the organization.
