It all began with a Juice Stand When 21-year-old Lilly eloped with Peter Pulitzer and moved to Palm Beach. In the shadow of Peter’s citrus groves, Lilly opened a juice stand. To disguise the juice stains on her clothing, she had a sleeveless dress made from colorfully-printed cotton.

Her iconic patterns became a hit and she created a new genre of fashion in the meantime – American Resort Wear.

To this day, we design every print and pattern in our print studio. We start each season with a color palette (color is yes, always bright and spill-proof) and develop prints and patterns that bring the brand to life. Our designer’s sketch, draw, marker, watercolor, and block print every tid-bit of the line. It’s all original artwork, and we make sure to carry on the tradition of hiding LILLY in every print.
