Get to know I Know I Can, our September/October Easton Community Foundation partner.
For 36 years, I Know I Can has proudly served more than 30,000 students from Columbus City Schools, Reynoldsburg City Schools, South-Western City School District and Whitehall City Schools – inspiring these students to dream big while providing supports to help them reach these dreams and achieve post-high school success.
I Know I Can staff and volunteers provide guidance and support to students from elementary school through college graduation in the following ways:
- Inspiring elementary school students to dream big about their futures and introduces the idea of college in a fun and meaningful way through a children’s book.
- Enabling middle school students to explore in-demand careers through virtual reality programming, college and career field trips, and career panels.
- Providing high school students with early exposure to career and college opportunities, as well as providing support for the many tasks students must accomplish to join the military, pursue a technical career or apprenticeship, or apply for college.
- Guiding seniors through the complex college admissions and financial aid processes.
- Supporting students as they navigate college or workforce training programs for the first time through services like one-on-one counseling at select college campuses, lunch and learn workshops, assistance with completing and submitting the FAFSA, assistance with scholarship applications, career path guidance, and access to information on campus resources, campus activities, and careers/internships.
I Know I Can also proudly awards more than $1.9 million in grants and scholarships each year to deserving students in the school districts it serves.
Encouraging our students to dream big today helps our communities thrive tomorrow! Here are a few ways you can explore and support I Know I Can this month:
- Give what you can: College access and post-secondary success matters to all of us. You can help support students in I Know I Can’s programs dream big and achieve their goals by parking at one of the parking meters at Easton, paying your Easton parking ticket, or donating directly to I Know I Can.
- Join for fun: Come out to Easton on October 24th from 3-6PM to visit the I Know I Can College & Career Coach. We will have giveaways, activities, virtual reality goggles for career exploration, and an opportunity to get help from our advisors (e.g., college applications, financial aid forms, scholarship applications). - Know where to go for more: I Know I Can has workshops, advisors, and information to help students at its office at 215 N. Front Street, Suite 200. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday between 9AM and 3PM. For students attending high school in Columbus City Schools, Reynoldsburg City Schools, South-Western City Schools, or Whitehall City Schools, an I Know I Can advisor is in your building to assist you when school is in session.
