Lucky for us, we have a perfect blowout salon right in our backyard: The Blowout Bar at Easton. We sat down with co-owner Kristin DeJohn to learn a little more about The Blowout Bar, its services and the experience.

The Story

Let’s take it back to the very beginning. It all started when Kristin and her sister, and co-owner, Kailen went to New York in 2009. The sisters passed a blowout bar on the street and decided to give it a try, as they never experienced a blowout before.

“We remember walking out feeling like completely different women—confident and ready to take on the weekend,” Kristin said.

When the two came back to Columbus, they tried to find something similar to what they had experienced in New York but couldn’t find anything. After a year of hoping and wishing for a blowout bar in Columbus, Kristin and Kailen took matters into their own hands and opened the first Blowout Bar in Grandview. Since the first opening six years ago, they’ve opened three other locations—one being their Easton location on Townsfair Way, along with a location in Dublin and Short North.

You may be wondering what makes The Blowout Bar unique compared to other salons. Kristin and Kailen simply have a love for the beauty industry and take great pride in caring for their clients. Aside from their passion for people, their promise is to focus on the one thing they’re best at: blowouts.

“Everyone does the blowout the exact same way,” Krisitin said. “With our consistency, you’ll be able to go to different stylists at our salon and get the same result every time.”

The Services

Putting color and cuts aside, the team at The Blowout Bar focuses solely on blowouts. Whether you’re wanting lots of body and volume or effortless waves, The Blowout Bar has a style for everyone. Need a quick style? Pop in with dry hair and they’ll do the rest! Up-do or half-up, pony tail or top knot, their skills will have you leaving the salon feeling confident and ready to take on the day.

If you want an extra pop to top off your look, The Blowout Bar conveniently provides makeup services as well. Add this service to your blowout or simply stop in for just makeup—either way, the blowout stylists are there to help!

The Experience

Upon arrival, clients are greeted and taken back for a relaxing hair wash. Then, the real blowout experience begins! My stylist was ready for me as soon as I got there. I didn’t have to wait at all! She talked me through the different types of blowouts, which helped me choose which one to go with. She curled my hair with a wand and added products along the way to create the exact look I was going for! The Blowout Bar was a great experience. It was everything I wanted it to be!

I’ve been a fan of The Blowout Bar since it first opened in Columbus! I was fascinated by the concept of being in and out within 50 minutes to an hour. In African-American culture with textured hair like mine, that’s unheard of! A lot of multi-cultural women don’t think they can pop into The Blowout Bar, but they can because the stylists are trained to work with all different hair types! I typically get the Bahama Mama style—messy, beachy waves. I also love that The Blowout Bar is a locally owned business. It makes the experience even more special for me.

“As we head into spring and summer, we added our newest style to the menu – the Manhattan,” Kristin said. Known as “the off-duty model look”, the Manhattan style has undone waves that will leave you looking like a natural beauty.

Braids are still one of the hottest hair trends and we are living for it! There are so many different options when it comes to braids, you really cannot go wrong with any decision. Looking for chic?
