Women’s History Month: the blowout bar

The first Columbus-based salon focused solely on blowouts and styling.

In 2009, sisters and co-owners of the blowout bar Kristin and Kailen took a trip to New York City. While there, they had their first-ever blowout. No special occasion. No cut or color beforehand. Just a desire to have beautiful hair.

When Kristin and Kailen returned to Columbus, they were on the hunt to find a similar experience. After bouncing from salon to salon, they decided to stop wishing for the perfect blowout and make it happen.

The blowout bar opened in 2013 – the first salon focused solely on blowouts and styling. They quickly discovered that they weren’t alone – many men and women wanted to feel good and look good in 45 minutes or less. Today, the blowout bar has three locations and countless clients.

What’s a blowout?
Blowouts begin with a shampoo. The stylist chooses products that fit the client’s specific hair type and desired results. There is also an option to add a 10-minute scalp massage and a variety of other conditioning treatments.

Next comes the blowout. Using an expert round brush technique and a high-powered blow dryer, the stylist blow dries the hair section by section, lifting the roots to add volume while the round brush minimizes frizz, smooths the hair, and adds shine.

Finally, it’s time for a style. The blowout bar stylists can add curls, waves, volume, texture, or whatever else to achieve the finished look the client is looking for. Blowouts leave your hair feeling refreshed, confident, and with a style that will last for days.

The blowout bar also offers dry styles, event styles, and make up services. Plus, you’ll find options for kids.

The blowout bar’s Easton location is located at 3910 Townsfair Way, across from Trader Joe’s. Check out the 5 blowout styles offered at the blowout bar and schedule your appointment here.
