As we reminisce on the past 20 years, we’re filled with so many fond memories. From welcoming new stores and restaurants (it’s amazing to think some have been with us since we opened in 1999) to create fun events that bring the Columbus community together. Let’s take a look back at a full year celebrating our 20th Anniversary and maybe even a few sneak peeks of what’s to come in 2020!
Easton Events Everyone Loved
We kicked off the year in a delicious way with our Taste of Easton event that took place on February 20 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton. The gourmet event featured over 20 of our dining establishments and samples of their mouthwatering food. Portions of the proceeds from the event went to support the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GGAC) and Community Kitchen. We also added a few fun 90s twists to our other 2019 events! Our Sounds on the Town lineup was infused with 1990s bands, along with throwback movies in our Movies by Moonlight series. Easton’s Pet Parade celebrated 20 years of doggone fun too!
We Engaged Your Senses with The Rooms@Easton
In 2019, we had the exciting opportunity of hosting a unique and interactive exhibit called The Rooms@Easton, produced by COSI. The mysterious exhibit not only engaged the senses but allowed visitors to investigate intriguing science concepts at the same time. The Rooms themselves were five individually themed and interactive illusions meant to spark curiosity and prove that science is, in fact, for everyone!
New Stores & Attractions
Over the course of 2019, we welcomed new stores, restaurants and attractions to Easton, including:
- 7 For All Mankind
- Bank of America
- Brandy Melville
- Basset Home Furnishing
- Campo Marzio
- Conrads College Gifts
- Forbidden Root
- Naturally Curious Kids
- RH Columbus, The Gallery at Easton Town Center
- Shake Shack
- Tory Burch
- Wanderlust Shops
- Warby Parker
Expanding Our Footprint
In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we also announced that we’re investing more than $500 million to create new public gathering spaces and bring more shopping, dining and entertainment venues to Columbus! The expansion, which will transform the area located between the Town Center and Easton Gateway (near Macy’s and Nordstrom), seeks to connect the two shopping districts for an all-encompassing experience. Work on our expansion is well underway, with some tenants already open and welcoming their first guests – Forbidden Root and RH Columbus. Other new additions to look forward to in 2020 include:
- AMC Dreamworks
- Arhaus Furniture
- The Beeline
- Crimson Cup
- Dragon Donuts
- Ian Kane’s Forty Deuce Café and Speakeasy
- Pins Mechanical
- Slurping Turtle
- Sono Wood Fired
- True Food Kitchen
The expansion will also include new gathering areas that will play host to public events and more! Easton currently hosts more than 100 public events. To accommodate increasing crowds, the expansion will include a public green known as The Yard. The Yard will be centrally located in the new district and is intended to be a leisure destination for live music, entertainment and events. Also located in the center of our expansion, Urban Hearth is an industrial building that has been architecturally deconstructed to create a social space for everyone to enjoy. The area will serve as a lively environment to gather, relax and spend time with family and friends around the Hearth, on the patio or in the alleyway surrounded by a diverse mix of shops.
To help you get around the new expansion, CoGo Bike Stations have arrived at Easton! Easton will be an extension to the already ongoing CoGo expansion into Bexley, Grandview, Upper Arlington, and Columbus. Exact locations for the Easton CoGo Stations can be found on our directory.
2019 Easton Shop/LAB
Following the successful launch of our Shop/LAB retail concept last year, we welcomed several popup retailers into the space for 2019. Campo Marzio kicked off the summer season at Shop/LAB with their trendy, luxurious and bright take on Italian-European fashion and accessories. Then, just in time for the holiday season, we welcomed Artkive to the Shop/LAB. At Artkive, your child’s unique artwork is carefully crafted into a stunning keepsake book or custom framed mosaic print.
2019 Awards for the Best Shopping Center!
We would like to express our gratitude to anyone who took the time to vote for us as part of (614) Magazine’s 2019 ColumBEST Awards. For the fourth year in a row, Easton was voted Best Shopping Center in Columbus. Several of our tenants also received awards in a variety of ColumBEST Awards categories including, Easton AMC for Best Movie Theater, Mitchell’s Ocean Club for Best Seafood, PF Chang’s for Best Asian Restaurant and The Funny Bone for Best Comedy Venue. Easton was also named 2019’s Number 1 Retail Experience in America by CSA! To be given these titles is an honor that we are beyond thankful for.
20 Years of Holiday Traditions
Looking back over the past 20 years, we’re amazed by how many people have chosen to include Easton within their own special holiday traditions. From our annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony to carriage rides, carolers and dazzling light shows that are one-of-a-kind, we’ve enjoyed spreading holiday cheer to our neighbors in Columbus. To cap off our 20th anniversary, we hosted a $1,999 Holiday Shopping Spree Giveaway, a Winter Wonderland-themed Holiday Lighting Ceremony AND a 20 Days of Giveaways extravaganza!
Change for Charity Recipients
Since our founding 20 years ago, the Easton Community Foundation has been donating proceeds from Easton parking meters and tickets to designated Change for Charity partners. Our 2019 Change for Charity program benefitted six local nonprofit organizations focused on strengthening the central Ohio community.
