Eddie Bauer, which brags that its apparel will keep customers warm in the coldest conditions, will prove it at its Easton Town Center store. The Bellevue, Washington-based retailer’s redesigned store will have a feature available at only one other Eddie Bauer in the country: The EB Ice Box. The eight-foot room features climate controls that can drop the temperature to 10 degrees Fahrenheit, with high-powered fans simulating wind chill. That allows customers to step into the cold and see how the apparel holds up.
The use of cold storage lockers is an idea the founder himself put into practice in the 1950s to test outwear and gear, according to information from the company, and its flagship store in its Bellevue hometown also has an EB Ice Box. The redesigned store at Easton is 3,892 square feet and reflects the brand’s new retail direction launched last year in Bellevue. The company said it is more of a curated shopping experience with its selection of outerwear, apparel, footwear, outdoor gear and accessories. The design features concrete, metals and reclaimed wood. It is organized by activity including mountain sports, hiking, training, travel and fishing.Grand opening will be March 23 with additional festivities on March 25.
