Cheers to 20 Years: What’s Coming to Easton in 2019
Did you know 2019 marks Easton's 20th anniversary? Here's an initial look at some of the exciting things we have in store for visitors this coming year.
To celebrate this special milestone, we'll be hosting tons of fun activities and family-friendly events throughout the year, starting with Taste of Easton.
Our Taste of Easton event will take place on January 20 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton and feature over 20 of our dining establishments and samples of their delicious food! This is a ticketed event, with a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales supporting the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) and Community Kitchen. Purchasing a ticket will give you access to the event, food samples and two drink tickets.
Events aside, we have another exciting announcement to share: Easton is expanding!
In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we're investing more than $500 million to create new public gathering spaces and bring more shopping, dining and entertainment venues to Columbus.
The expansion, which will transform the area located between the Town Center and Easton Gateway (near Macy’s and Nordstrom), seeks to connect the two shopping districts for an all-encompassing experience.
It will also help set the stage for establishing Easton as a unique and exciting new residential community, while increasing office employment in the number one destination for corporate growth in Columbus and Central Ohio over the past 20 years.
Work on our expansion has already begun, and we can’t wait to unveil the new and improved Easton once development is complete. As part of the expansion, guests can also expect several new additions to Easton, including:
As part of our expansion, Easton will become home to dozens retailers, breweries, restaurants and entertainment venues, including RH Columbus, The Gallery at Easton Town Center. As the first RH design gallery of its kind in the state of Ohio, and one of only 19 in the country, this acclaimed lifestyle destination will be a striking three-story, 40,000-square-foot freestanding building. It will offer an inspiring and expansive collection of home furnishings in a gallery setting, an interactive RH Design Atelier with professional design services, and a Rooftop Park and Café. RH Columbus is expected to open in late 2019.
Extension of Worth Ave. & Addition of Merchants Row
The existing Town Center will be connected to our new area via the extension of Worth Avenue, and the addition of a new street named Merchants Row. The Row will feature vibrant streetscapes with exciting new shopping, dining and leisure areas, ensuring that every visit brings you a new experience.
Easton currently hosts more than 100 public events in our Town Square and North District Fountain area. To accommodate increasing crowds, the expansion will include a public green known as The Yard. The Yard is intended to be a leisure destination for live music, entertainment and events that benefit community organizations and all sorts of other gatherings. This space will be centrally located and surrounded by new eateries, shops and entertainment venues.
Located in the center of our expansion, Urban Hearth is an industrial building that has been architecturally deconstructed to create a social space energized by adjacent breweries, restaurants and entertainment spaces. The area will serve as a lively environment to gather, relax and spend time with family and friends around the Hearth, on the patio or in the alleyway surrounded by a diverse mix of shops.
Our expansion will also add two new parking levels to an existing parking garage, as well as a brand-new, six-level parking garage that will add 1,500 additional parking spaces to Easton.
To build on the exciting updates, we're pleased to share that we'll also be welcoming several other additions to Easton over the coming year, including:
Shake Shack® announced it will be setting up shack at Easton Town Center in 2019. Shake Shack is a critically acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers and chicken sandwiches (no added hormones or antibiotics – ever), griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle-cut fries, craft beer, wine and more. A fun and lively community gathering place with widespread appeal, Shake Shack has earned a cult-like following around the world. The 3,523-square foot Shack will feature an outdoor patio and seating for more than 100 guests. In keeping with Shake Shack’s commitment to green architecture and eco-friendly construction, the Easton Town Center Shack will be constructed with recycled and sustainable materials. Booths will be made from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, and table tops will be made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes.
CoGo Bike Stations
CoGo Bike Stations are coming to Easton, with 60 docks and 32 bikes located at the center. Easton will be an extension to the already ongoing CoGo expansion into Bexley, Grandview, Upper Arlington, and Columbus. Exact locations for the Easton CoGo Stations will be announced at a future date.
Also coming to Easton is Aloft Hotel. Opening in 2020, the 136-room Aloft Hotel will fill a unique niche in the current hotel offerings at Easton. The upscale select service brand by Marriott caters to today’s modern travelers who crave more than the traditional hotel experience and also desire an affordable price. Aloft is urban-inspired with accessible technology and innovative programming centering on music, food and beverage. Easton’s Aloft will offer meeting and event space, a 7,500 square-foot restaurant, fitness center and pool. The addition of Aloft will bring Easton’s total room count to 600 across four hotels, including Hilton Columbus Easton, Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn.
While there have been plenty of memorable moments worth celebrating over the last 20 years, we're looking forward to sharing these exciting additions with you in the coming year. Stay tuned for more updates and connect with us on Facebook for the latest information regarding Easton news and events.
