Bee Friendly at Easton
Did you know that one-third of the world’s food supply relies on honey bees? Yet entomologists estimate that between 33 to 50 percent of honey bee colonies are dying every year.
Pollinators like honey bees are imperative to the growth of most fruits, vegetables, and nuts. And as their populations decline, it’s important for us to take action to preserve and revive the species:
At Easton, we have over 30 known perennials, 15 different varieties of trees, over a dozen shrubs and many summer annuals that are proven pollinators. We have no species of plants on property that are harmful to bees.
Plans are in the works to bring honey bee hives to Easton in the future.
